Proroute Firmware Information and Downloads
For help and guides how to upgrade a router’s firmware please search in the Proroute Knowledgebase.
Identifying a Proroute 4G Router
To determine whether your Proroute device is a 4G router, check the label located on the underside of the unit. If the model number includes a lowercase ‘t’ immediately following the model code (e.g., H900t or H685t), it indicates that the router supports 4G connectivity.
Additional identifiers on the label include:
- ‘W’ – Indicates the router has a single WiFi module.
- ‘WW’ – Indicates the router has dual WiFi modules.
For example:
- H685t-W: A 4G router with one WiFi module.
- H900t-WW: A 4G router with two WiFi modules.
You can also verify the router version by checking the kernel version via the web interface:
- Log in to the router’s web UI.
- Navigate to Status > Overview.
- Locate the Kernel Version field for detailed version information.
H685 4G Router
The part number on the underside of the router is H685t-W – the firmware starts v3.2.X
H685 4G POE-in Router
The part number on the underside of the router is H685t-w-POE – the firmware starts v3.3.X
H820 4G Router (New version from Jan 23)
The part number is H820-t (same as the old version). This new version has 2x WIFI antennas, the old version has only 1x WIFI. – The firmware version always starts v3.3.X
H820 4G Router (Old version from pre-Jan 23)
The part number is H820-t (same as the new version). This old version has 1x WIFI antenna, the new version has 2x WIFI. – The firmware version always starts v3.2.X
Identifying a Proroute 5G Router
To confirm whether your Proroute device is a 5G router, check the label on the underside of the unit. If the model number includes a lowercase ‘f’ immediately after the model code (e.g., H900f or H685f), it indicates 5G capability.
⚠️ Important: Always ensure you select the correct firmware for your specific H900 5G router. Different WiFi modules require different firmware versions. While the device will alert you if an incorrect firmware is selected, forcing the update may cause permanent damage.
How to Identify the Correct Firmware Version
There are three reliable methods to determine the appropriate firmware for your device:
Kernel Version
- Access the router’s web interface.
- Navigate to Status > Overview.
- Locate the Kernel Version field.
WiFi Module Type
- For H900 5G models with AC Wave2 WiFi, the WiFi module type is printed on the underside label of the router.
Part Number
- The part number is also printed on the underside label and provides a clear identifier for the specific hardware version. Use this to match the correct firmware version from the support resources.
Other Model Identifiers
- ‘t’ (e.g., H900t) – Indicates a 4G router.
- ‘p’ (e.g., H685p) – Indicates a 3G router.
Firmware for these models can be found on the respective 4G / 3G firmware pages.
