SSH Default Credentials
The H685 router provides SSH access via a dedicated account separate from the WebUI admin account. The relationship between these credentials depends on the firmware version installed.
SSH account
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| SSH username | router |
| SSH password | See firmware version table below |
Firmware v3.2.355 and later — unified credentials
From firmware H685-MT6720-v3.2.355 onwards, the SSH router account is linked to the WebUI admin account.
- On first login, setting a new password in the WebUI sets the SSH password to the same value
- Changing the password in either the WebUI or via
passwdover SSH updates both accounts simultaneously - The factory default WebUI password is unique per router — printed on the underside label
All routers ship with unique WebUI and Wi-Fi passwords printed on the underside label. Set a new strong password on first login — see Important Device Security Guidelines & Settings for full recommendations.
Firmware before v3.2.355 — separate credentials
On firmware versions prior to v3.2.355, the SSH and WebUI accounts are independent:
| Account | Username | Default password |
|---|---|---|
| WebUI | admin |
Unique — printed on underside label |
| SSH | router |
admin!@# |
Changing the WebUI password does not change the SSH password, and vice versa. Each must be changed separately.
If running older firmware, update to the latest version to benefit from unified credential management and other security improvements. See Firmware Upgrade Process.
