H820 - LED Light Information

This article describes the LED indicators on the H820 router — what each LED represents, the expected sequence on power-up, and how to interpret the signal strength indicator.

Power-up sequence

When the router is powered on, the following LED sequence indicates a normal boot:

  1. WAN and LAN LEDs turn on briefly, then turn off
  2. LAN LED turns on and flickers (boot activity)
  3. SYS LED turns on solid for approximately 25 seconds, then begins flashing steadily
  4. Wi-Fi LED turns on — the router has finished booting

The same sequence occurs after a factory reset. If the sequence differs significantly from the above, this may indicate a hardware or firmware fault.

For factory reset instructions, see Restore Router to Default Factory Settings.

LED reference

LED Colour State Meaning
SYS Solid for ~25 seconds Booting — normal on power-up
SYS Green Flashing System running normally
SYS Off or remains solid after 25 s System fault
LAN Green Solid Ethernet link connected
LAN Green Flashing Data transmitting on LAN
LAN Off No LAN cable connected
VPN Green Solid IPSec VPN tunnel active
VPN Off VPN inactive or not configured
CELL Orange Flashing SIM registered but no internet connection — check APN settings
CELL Orange Solid Internet connection established
WiFi Green Solid Wi-Fi enabled
WiFi Off Wi-Fi disabled
WAN Green Solid WAN Ethernet connected
WAN Green Flashing Data transmitting on WAN
WAN Off No WAN cable connected
Signal Off No signal, or signal check not yet ready
Signal Blue Slow flash (2 s on / 2 s off) Weak signal — 1 bar
Signal Blue Medium flash (1 s on / 1 s off) Moderate signal — 2 bars
Signal Blue Fast flash (0.5 s on / 0.5 s off) Strong signal — 3 bars

The Signal LED indicates signal strength independently of the CELL LED. Signal flashing blue means the modem can see the network. CELL solid means a data connection is established. If all LEDs are solid and unchanging, this usually indicates a system error — perform a factory reset. For detailed signal metrics (RSRP, RSRQ, SINR), check Status > Mobile in the WebUI.
